About This Class

Introducing Advanced Gemstone Setting No/.1, with re-nouned Master Goldsmith, Peter Keep. This class is for two days, 16th & 17th October, 10am to 4pm each day. This Elevate Event is an excellent opportunity to learn at the bench, under full tuition with Peter. It is perfect for jewellery makers at a beginner to intermediate skill level & those who are confident in making their own designs safely. Peter has 40+ years’ experience as a Designer Goldsmith, Manufacturing Jeweller, Setter & is a celebrated Trade Tutor. Over the years Peter has developed his own programmes, utilising course content that has excellent learning outcomes for Jewellers, Apprentices & Students alike. What the course will cover: Peter draws on his experience in the principals of making good jewellery & has a full understanding of setting techniques, class participation, achievability & engagement. This introduction takes a "best practices" approach in gypsy setting, shared claw setting & split claw setting. What's included: Full tuition & guidance from Peter. A supportive space to learn in, with time to learn and practice at the bench. A setting pack, including all stones to set & prefabricated blanks needed to complete the exercises. What's not included: Setting tools. Prior to the class a detailed tool list will be emailed direct to you so that you can make sure you have all the tools needed to take part in this class. Learning to fabricate the mounts & components to set, is not covered in this class. Health & Safety Requirements: Please wear closed toe shoes & have any long hair tied up. Bring your eyeglasses if you need to see up close. We'll settle you in after our "New HandS in the Workshop" induction, regarding the use of our workshop facilities, & your participation in the end of class clean-up. Within your booking is a compulsory half hour break in included, so bring something to munch. Tea & coffee provided. Booking is essential: Please be respectful and arrive 15 minutes before class starts at 10am, each day. As this program is jammed pack with content that we want you to get the most benefit from we must start the class on time.
