About This Class

As your first class into the wonderful world of making jewellery, this is a 5-evening block course that provides an introduction to the jewellers workshop and basic hand skills. From the first night you will head straight into making at the bench. Your tutor will help you work confidently with a wide selection of tools, & a variety of manufacturing techniques like piercing, filing, annealing, soldering, texturing, & polishing. Skills you can practice & use in your own designs. Within your booking is all materials for 2 projects, & compulsory break at 7.00pm, because we all need a break and it's the perfect opportunity to get to know you better. Tea & coffee provided. We'll settle you in after our "New HandS in the Workshop" induction, regarding the use of workshop facilities, and your participation in the end of session clean-up. Please bring every week: a bib apron, wear closed toe shoes & have any long hair tied up. (Also bring any hand-tools, metals, gems, projects, if you have them). Can't wait to see you in the workshop being creative; there's always something new to learn. Please note: Bookings are open to participants aged 14 years & over. Whilst we whole heartedly encourage young people to participate in our classes we observe a strict age restriction of 14 years and over.  For participants 14 to 16 years old we do require an adult to remain in the workshop to assist in supervising them.
