A micro-guide to the ring widths we use at the JewellersCollective+Minturn for the Silver Ring Making Classes, and the Gold and Platinum Ring Making Classes.
Which Ring Width Is Right for Me?

Half round ring profiles 8mm, 6mm, 4.4mm and 3.5mm
Choosing a ring width is a personal decision and often comes down to comfort, style, and how you’d like your finished piece to feel on your hand. The pictures show the rings in our standard profile of half round on finger size: R.

3.5mm – The "Designer" ring
Delicate and Minimalistic
A refined, lightweight option. Ideal for those who prefer subtle jewellery, smaller hands, or a clean, understated look.

4.4mm – The "Iconic" ring
Balanced and Versatile
A popular everyday width that offers a little more presence while remaining comfortable and elegant.

6mm – The "Modern" ring
Modest but Confident
A substantial profile with a strong visual impact.
Well suited to statement pieces or those who enjoy a solid feel.

8mm – The "Bold" ring
A Luxurious Statement
A wide, heavy profile that makes a clear design statement.
Best for those who enjoy bold proportions and the weight of precious metal.
What if you're still not sure which one you'd like? If you are unsure, please choose the Iconic ring as your option to complete your booking.
Your tutor will be happy to help you choose a width that suits your tastes at the beginning of class and amend your booking if desired.
ps... sorry about the photos of my hands! I guess they may still give you some idea of the ring widths on the finger :-) See you in the workshop soon. Lee
